Keeping Busy, in the Best Way by Mary O. Fumento “One of the greatest and simplest tools for learning more and growing is doing more.” - Washington Irving (inventor of the modern short story and best-known for his stories, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle.) As summertime winds down to schooltime, I recall the restlessness I used to feel as a child: it was time to return to structure. My siblings and I would charge around like maniacs, tormenting our mother with our complaints of boredom. We would lament, “There is nothing to do.” As if. In fact, we had so much we could do, we could scarcely choose. When my mother quickly remedied our thoughts of emptiness with lists of chores possible, our creativity increased dramatically. In the library system’s goal to help you learn and grow, we have many ways to keep you engaged and doing more. Program Schedules Story hour in Ten Sleep will be starting on September 10th at 10 a.m. All preschoolers are invited to attend. We will have books, stories and crafts appropriate for their age group. We welcome back Paula Murphy as our awesome story hour reader. School begins in Ten Sleep on Monday, August 17th, and the library fall schedule will resume that day: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. -1 p.m. Preschool story hour in Worland will resume on Sept. 2nd at 10:30 a.m. Our after-school program will begin in October. We hope to have new programs as well by collaborating with Raising Readers in Wyoming. The Anime Club continues to meet on Thursdays at 7 p.m. We invite you to use the library to host your meetings and programs, as well. Come share our space and invite speakers to spread their knowledge. In the Library We are looking for new ways to inform you of new literary information, and a new subscription to the book review newspaper, BookPage, is one of them. Please take these complimentary copies home and enjoy. We have enlarged our CD book collection and have many new titles for road trips you may be taking this fall. Two paintings of Worland artist Dick Scott are available for viewing in the Worland library. We invite other artists to display their work to the community inside our walls, whether it’s jewelry, painting, sculpture or other art. At Ten Sleep, residents often just share their own personal collections of historical or cultural artifacts. Did you know we have adult book club kits available? The library system is a great place to bring or start your book club for discussions about your current reading. State Resources The state continues to flood us all with terrific resources and educational material, and here are just a few available via the library system web site. With state unemployment increasing, now might be a good time to check out Coin Career Library. This online tool provides library users the ability to:
